Many would remember Jurong by the formation of Jurong Industrial Estate in the 1950s, and subsequently the operationalisation of Jurong Port in 1965, all of which gave Jurong its reputation of "an industrial town". However, this "industrial town" has more than just factories, ports and shipyards to share. It is the place where gambier planters, and spies-in-training left a mark in the town's history too. Recreational sites such as Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden and Jurong Lake remain important social spaces for Jurong's residents. This trail covers a multitude of landmarks including eating places, recreational sites, religious institutions and historical locations.
