In 1958 as part of an Anti-Spitting Campaign, about 100 workers in the Singapore City Council’s health and water departments, volunteered and went door-to-door to distribute pamphlets, such as this, and anti-spitting emblems. Volunteers wore blue and red badges when going house to house to warn the people against the dangers of spitting in public.This was part of what was then termed a “Mass Health Movement” – three campaigns on “Anti-Spitting”, “Anti-Litter” and “Anti-Pests” organised by the Singapore City Council in 1958.
