This is a set of moulds for making the heads of figurines of the Three Star Gods (Sanxing 三星), Fu Lu Shou 福禄寿. The trio, who represent fortune, prosperity and longevity are frequently depicted in Chinese art and material culture. In addition to manufacturing joss sticks, Tay Guan Heng branched out into making figurines from the late 1980s in a bid to diversify their product offerings and sustain their business. The moulds were made by the second-generation owner of the firm, Mr Tay Yong Poh. Moulds were introduced into the production process as manpower became scarcer in the later years of the business.
