This publication reproduces the Declaration by the Conveners of the Malaysian Solidarity Convention of 9 May 1965 in 4 languages, English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil.The Malaysian Solidarity Convention was a gathering of five political parties at Sri Temasek attempting to curb the spread of communalism in the Federation of Malaysia. The participating parties were the People’s Action Party (PAP) from Singapore; the United Democratic Party and the People’s Progressive Party from Peninsula Malaysia; and the Sarawak United People’s Party and the Machinda Party from Sarawak. They rallied behind the idea of a “Malaysian Malaysia” where all citizens were equal regardless of race.
