This pidangan (beading frame) belonged to Bebe Seet who used it for beading Peranakan fashion pieces and as a teaching tool. Her name is carved at the top of the frame. The material to be beaded is attached to the middle of the canvas which is kept taut by screws. The image of a lady in European frock feeding a swan is left unfinished so that students can be guided on the process of beading.Bebe Seet is the founder of Rumah Bebe, a boutique that offers Peranakan cuisine and fashion. As a Singaporean, Peranakan designer specialising in beaded shoes and bags, she has also been conducting beading classes since 1995. She is well-known for reviving the art of Peranakan beadwork from the 1990s, and for having one of the most exquisite workmanship on Peranakan beadwork.
