This is the original flexi disc recording of Majulah Singapura, along with its lyric and score sheet, composed by Zubir Said. The version on this record was originally used as the official song of the City Council of Singapore, which was later adopted as the national anthem after Singapore attained self-government in 1959. With modifications to the lyrics and melody, the revised Majulah Singapura was unveiled along with two other national symbols, the state crest and state flag, at the launch of the National Loyalty Week celebrations and the installation of Singapore’s first Head of State, Yusof bin Ishak, on 3 December 1959.
