Travel Poster titled “Travel in Comfort by Malayan Railway”

The Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) was a consolidated railway operated in British Malaya (present day Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore) during the first half of the 20th century (1901 to 1948). The railway line between Kranji and Tank Road was first opened in 1903. The line was extended to Woodlands in 2907, then to Johor in 1923 and Tanjong Pagar station in 1932. Travel posters such as this were intended to encourage European travellers to visit Malaya via rail and explore a different culture from their own.
