Malaya Travel Poster issued by the Federated Malay States Railways Kuala Lumpur

The Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) was a consolidated railway operated in British Malaya (present day Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore) during the first half of the 20th century (1901 to 1948). The poster features the image of a lady in a traditional patterned sarong holding her baby with a young child holding up a flower in front of palm trees reflected against the water and hills in the background. Such travel posters were intended to encourage European travellers to visit Malaya and explore a different culture from their own.
