This trishaw used to belong to Alphaland Travel Services, a local company that offered trishaw tours in Singapore from the 1990s to 2000s. With its office located in Middle Road, Alphaland’s fleet of trishaws were stationed at the nearby Sim Lim Square and operated a route along Little India, a historic precinct popular among tourists. While it had the occasional corporate client, most of Alphaland’s business was derived from the tourism industry as its trishaws ferried tourists keen to experience Singapore in what used to be a common mode of transport for locals from the post-war year till the 1960s. This particular model was made in the early 2000s and comes with leather cushions, as well as a stereo system that is a common feature in modern-day trishaws, allowing both the riders and passengers to enjoy music during the ride.
