This pendant contains a bird-like design, likely referencing the peacock or phoenix. Bezel-set with old European-cut diamonds, the larger diamond distinguishes the body of the bird, while smaller diamonds emphasise the bird's elaborate plumes. The pendant was gifted to Lee Chuan Neo (1912-1989) by her mother, Gwee Luan Neo (1884-1953) on the occasion of Lee's wedding on 5 January 1933. The pendant is part of a group of heirloom jewellery bequeathed to Lee's only child, Mona Tan (b. 1945).
