Taken in 1935, this group photograph features the 7th batch of board members of the Singapore Engineering Mechanics Association.Founded in 1928, the Singapore Engineering Mechanics Association, also known as the Chinese Engineering Mechanics Association, was one of the branches that was set up through British Malaya for Chinese artisans, mechanics and engineers. The majority of its members were Cantonese and many members of the association volunteered as mechanics for China’s war effort during the Second Sino-Japanese war.
