The HDB flats of Jalan Klinik were built during Phase 3 of construction in the Bukit Ho Swee estate in the 1960s. In 1963, the HDB introduced its very first HDB block with a void deck. Up till then, all HDB blocks had dwelling units built on the ground level instead of an open space that came to be known as the void deck. The block is the only block in Bukit Ho Swee and one of the last HDB blocks – in fact, fewer than 10 – in Singapore that has a completely porous common corridor façade that dates back to the 1960s.
