This is a 15K80 model of a Singer Sewing Machine, on a sewing machine stand. The K stands for the place in which the Sewing Machine would have been manufactured –Kilbowie, Scotland. The sewing machine stand bears Chinese characters. The Singer brand began in Glasgow in 1867, and as popularity grew it opened factories worldwide. The sewing machines it created were the first treadle powered, belt powered and eventually electricity powered sewing machines. The Singer 15 has been the most successful sewing machine design ever, remaining in production for over 100 years, despite improvements to the model over time.
