This postcard depicts Collyer Quay in Singapore in the early 1900s. A row of cars line the left side of the street, and a tram rattles down the street on the right, while in the foreground a rickshaw is being pulled. This variety of modes of transport provides interesting insight in to the rapid pace Singapore developed such that both less technically advanced and more technically advanced forms of transported coexisted. On the left of the postcard, the arcade style building in an oriental style was one built by the Alkaff brothers.
