Second edition of Raffles’ The History of Java

Prior to establishing the British trading settlement on Singapore in 1819, Raffles was Lieutenant Governor of Java from 1811 to 1816. After his term in Java, Raffles returned to England and published his book, the two volume The History of Java. This is the second edition of the book published in 1830, in two volumes and an accompanying Atlas of plates, arranged and paid for by his widow Lady Sophia Raffles. Two plates of Prambanan not featured in the first edition are included here.
