Enamel Mug

This enamel mug was used by an internee of Changi Prison during the Japanese Occupation. Mugs like these were popular in the 1930s and 40s and were made by applying enamel onto metal. Enamel mugs were issued as part of British and Australian soldiers' mess kits. The mug would have been an essential item in the internee's day-to-day life.
