This is a company signboard for general brokers, B.P. Lim & Co. acquired from the house of Lim Yew Teok. B.P. Lim is Lim Boon Pin, the youngest adopted son of Lim Yew Teok. Lim Yew Teok is among the early businessmen in modern Singapore. He was a shareholder of the Chinese Commercial Bank, which was established in 1912 and in 1932 merged with Ho Hong Bank and Overseas Chinese Bank to form Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation. He owned several properties, including commercial properties such as godowns around Ho Puah Quay (expunged).
