The Malay Language text on the badge reads "Bahasa Kebangsaan Hak Bersama", which translates to "The National Language Belongs to All of Us". This slogan was used in the 1963 National Language Week Campaign, held from 9 to 15 September in Singapore, to encourage the use of the National Language (Malay Language). More than 400,000 badges bearing the slogan were distributed to students.
