Dutch Colonial Burgomaster Chair

Made of teak, this Dutch colonial burgomaster chair comes with a semi-circular back with pierced floral carved medallions. The chair has its circular seat raised on six decorated cabriole legs with lion-paws feet. This type of furniture was developed in the late 17th century in former Dutch colonies in the Indian sub-continent and East Indies. Such round chairs became known as ‘Burgomaster’ chairs in 19th century.
