This wedding robe is embroidered with auspicious motifs in gold and silk thread including five-clawed dragons amidst stylised clouds, with waves and mountains at the hem. The wedding robe is worn together with a silk skirt. This wedding ensemble belonged to a Peranakan family from Malacca.Taken together, the two-piece ensemble was known as aoqun, a popular form of Han Chinese dress during the Qing dynasty. The sides of the skirt are finely pleated. Chinese auspicious motifs such as phoenixes and dragons are used to decorate the skirt.
