This trowel was presented by B.P de Silva to Yang di-Pertuan Negara Yusof Ishak. It was used on 2 November 1961 to lay the foundation stone of the Muslim orphanage managed by the Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA). The three-storey building at 5 Mattar Road was named Darul Ihsan Orphanage and officially opened by Yusof Ishak on 21 August 1962.
