Beaded collar

This beaded collar with tassels features various Chinese auspicious motifs such as phoenix, qilin, deer and peonies. This type of collar would have been worn by the page girl around her neck on top of her robe as part of the Peranakan Chinese 12-day wedding ceremony during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is reflective of Peranakan dress, integrating cross-cultural influences.
