Teak writing table with hidden drawers

This writing table is solely made of wood, a traditional material in the history of furniture-making. It has a unique design where the right side of the table has a door that reveals unexpected drawers, possibly meant to keep important or confidential documents. As an example of mid-century modern furniture, this writing table emphasises functionality with minimal ornamentation. Its form and design draws inspiration from Scandinavian furniture design of the same period, which also suggests that the local furniture makers were exposed to the Scandinavian style that had not only travelled to the Asian part of the world, but also gained appreciation amongst local consumers.
