Published in 1875 by the Lingnan Baojingge (岭南宝经阁) in Guangzhou, this collection of poems (that can be sung) was penned by local literary scholar Khoo Seok Wan and Qiu Feng Jia (邱逢甲) a famous Chinese patriot. Qiu Feng Jia was later involved in the Xinhai revolution and was the Guangdong representative for the Provisional Presidential Election in December 1911.An advert on this book was featured on Khoo’s newspaper—Thien Nan Shin Po on 21 December 1899. A stamp of “1899” at the back of the book could possibly indicate that it was the year this book was bought by Tan Chor Lam, whose personal seal was on the front cover.
