This Pocketeers toy is an example of the toys manufactured in Singapore by Tomy. These pocketable children’s toys were exported to the United Kingdom and distributed by Palitoy. They were enjoyed by children of that era before handheld electronic games became popular. Tomy was one of the major toy manufacturers in Singapore. It had a presence in Singapore from 1972 to 1995, manufacturing toys, and even small parts such as screws and springs, up till the end of 1991. In December 1991, the entire manufacturing activity shifted to Hong Kong and Thailand, leaving the Singapore office as the regional sales and distribution centre. In March 1995, Tomy ceased operations in Singapore.
