This postcard features the Boeing 747-300 “Big Top” aircraft with Singapore Airlines livery. The aircraft was the first wide-body jet liner produced and can be identified by its distinctive ‘hump’ upper deck along the forward part of the aircraft. Singapore Airlines placed its first orders for the Boeing 747 jetliner in 1972 and took delivery of its first Boeing 747-300 plane in April 1983. Also known as the “Queen of the Skies”, SIA retired the Boeing 747 from its passenger fleet in 2012.
