Printed in Hong Kong, in this case, by The Commercial Press, the Nanyang Chinese textbooks were shipped directly to Southeast Asia. One common feature among Nanyang Chinese textbooks was the depiction of coconut trees on the book cover, as seen here on this textbook. Between 1930 and 1949, Nanyang Chinese textbooks would have the Nanyang flora and fauna or landscape on the cover and illustrations within the pages of the book. Despite the Nanyang orientation in terms of design and content, such textbooks actually had minimum changes made to the bulk of the content as a large part of it was still focused on China.
