Johann Wolfgang Heydt's Allerneuester Geographisch und Topographischer Schau-Platz von Africa und Ost-Indien

This richly illustrated book was written and engraved by Johann Wolfgang Heydt, a German who worked for the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in Ceylon and Batavia between 1734 and 1740. Published in 1744 in Nuremberg, Germany, this book features many illustrations of Dutch ports in Asia and Africa, with a significant number of Batavia and Ceylon. These illustrattions were based on original drawings by Heydt, who worked for the VOC as a draughtsman and architect.
