This example is possibly a kain geringsing, rare double ikat that are prized for its ceremonial functions and mystical nature, characterised by their red, black and gold colouring. While Tenganan in Bali is more well-known for producing kain geringsing, this example possibly came from the village Sembiran. The design panel of this cloth contain a neat interlacing of diamonds and geometric patterns with pucuk rebung (bamboo shoot) edges and floral borders on either side.
