This poster, which advertises The East Asiatic Company’s passenger services and the route between Copenhagen via the Ceylon Straits and Siam to Bangkok, presents an image of the world with the said route and a drawing of the ship, the Jutlandia. The Jutlandia was built as a state-of-the-art ship in 1934 in Denmark. The typography of the poster is typical of the 1930s art deco style. This poster on occasion has been misidentified as being from 1953. The Jutlandia was in commission till 1965 lending to the confusion in dating this poster. This poster is by Edmond Bille, a Swiss artist known for stained glass windows and for setting up an artist colony in Bernese Oberland at Brienzwiler.
