This graduation gown belonged to Dr Earl Lu (1925-2005), one of Singapore’s most prominent art patrons and philanthropists. Lu graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Sydney in Australia. The gown has a label from Australian upmarket department store David Jones. Founded in 1838, David Jones is currently the oldest departmental store in the world that had been operating under the same name.
