Comme des Garcons purplish blue dress

This blue polyester dress was donated by Ms Lee Chor Lin, former Director of the National Museum of Singapore. It was designed by Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garcons’ Fall 2012 collection. The concept for the show was two dimensional ‘flat’ clothing that resembled paper doll cut-outs.This silhouette was repeated on various jackets, dresses, pants and shorts in vivid colours, florals, dots and camo prints. This collection was particularly memorable for not conforming to the shape of the human body, but creating ‘something completely new’.
