Japanese military expansion in Southeast Asia during WWII cut off the Allies from their major sources of natural rubber in Southeast Asia. As a consequence, shortages in raw materials were met with calls to the public to salvage rubber. This poster is one example of the cultural products made as part of the public campaigns for salvaging rubber on the home front. The poster depicts an RAF pilot walking in the distance, past two military personnel standing beside a motor vehicle and another aircraft in the background. It was printed by Greycaine, Watford and London and published by Her Majesty’s Stationery office.
