This carte de visite photograph of a calladium plant at Tanglin was taken by August Sachtler, a German photographer who started photographing in Singapore in the early 1860s. The studio details inscribed on the back of these cartes de visite read "A. Sachtler in Singapore", most probably predating Sachtler's partnership with Danish photographer Kristen Feilberg in Sachtler & Co in 1864.
