A sari is a length of unstitched cloth worn by women across the Indian subcontinent and among the Indian diaspora. The sari varies in length, style, pattern, colour, and draping. These variations depend on class, caste and regional differences. South India is a major producer of mulberry silk, especially in Tamil Nadu. Kanchipuram has been producing woven silk saris for 150 years, and is considered the most important Tamil silk-weaving town in Tamil Nadu today.
