This Puneri pagdi (Pune-style turban) is closely associated with the Pune region of Maharashtra, where it was traditionally worn by courtiers or people with high social standing. This type of pagadi was also worn by the Peshwas in Maharashtra, in a wider form. This style became common from the 19th century and is now the intellectual property of Pune (from 2009)
