This hand-coloured lithograph based on an original work by French watercolourist and draightsman Louis Auguste de Sainson depicts a view of a ravine the island of Ambon. De Sainson's works were produced while part of the expedition of the Astrolabe led by Jules D'Urville between 1826 and 1829.
