A project intended to span one year, the Evidences series shows the artist taking images of himself in various banal situations, such as being beside dancers, playing “Wings” on the piano with Cecile Reyes, lighting sparklers on New Year’s Eve, among others. Some photos show Johnny Manahan glancing at the watch on his left hand, “marking time,” while the other holds the plunger connecting to the camera’s shutter. The photographs include the image of the film’s perforations, highlighting the camera as a device to record perceived reality in time and space.
