This newsletter, titled Suara SATU (Voice of SATU) was published by the Singapore Association of Trade Unions (SATU). Publishing newsletters like this was one of the ways organisations such as SATU reached out to supporters and the masses in conveying their messages. Following the formation of the Barisan Sosialis by the left-wing members of the PAP who had broken away from the ruling party in 1961, the Singapore Trades Union Congress (SUTC) also saw a split where the pro-Barisan leaders established SATU, rivalling the pro-PAP National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). SATU was eventually dissolved in 1963 after it was refused registration for activities deemed unlawful and inconsistent with their objectives and rules.
