Patchwork quilt made by Samsui woman Mdm Wong Swee Keng

This patchwork quilt was made by Mdm Wong Swee Keng, a Samsui Woman. Mdm Wong was born in Singapore in 1914, but was taken to China when she was 5. At the age of 15, she returned to Singapore, working at a rubber factory until she was 21 when she returned again to China to get married. At the age of about 27, she joined her husband in Singapore, where she worked at construction sites as a Samsui Woman, a job she held until she was 70. She spent eight hours a day for one month to make this quilt, and offered it for sale at a charity event.
