The inaugural issue of Open Space, a bi-monthly bilingual magazine with events and reviews which ran till December 1992. This important issue documents the launch of the Substation, perhaps the definitive independent art space in Singapore. With a forward by its founder Kuo Pao Kun and featuring images and events of its different functioned spaces, the issue also features a rare full-colour centrefold collage by Joe Ng, a local music archivist of a gig in what was then the Substation’s open air garden. Open Space was distributed for free at the Substation’s Box Office.
