Chameleon II

Eng Tow was born in Singapore in 1947. She graduated from the Winchester School of Art with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in 1972. In 1974, Eng Tow received her Master of Arts from Royal College of Art, London. Chameleon II is made up of cloth reliefs in three panels. Each panel is made up of alternating pleats in complementary colours. From the top, the colours are Red/ Green, Blue/ Orange, and Yellow/ Purple. By incorporating the colours adjacent to each other, the colours effectively blend with each other in the viewer's perception and these points of intersection appear grey. This work was made during a time when Eng Tow was interested in exploring the interplay and perception of colour.
