The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere by Utsunomiya Ken

Published in 1942, this book is an extensive photographic survey of the regions of Southeast Asia under Japanese colonial rule during the Pacific War, including the Philippines, French Indochina, Thailand, Burma, Malaya, Borneo and Singapore. It was edited by Utsunomiya Ken, and published by Nihon Rekishi Kenkyūkai (Japanese History Research Group). As a propagandistic publication, it intended to promote the concept of ‘brotherhood’ amongst Southeast Asian people under the Japanese Empire.
