Manual for Ten Rituals - On Marriage

The dashakarma or “ten rites” of Hindu tradition, encompass all aspects of a Hindu’s life from conception to death. The methods or paddhati of these ten rites have been described, to enable correct observance of each rite. This manuscript is the manual of marriage, thus describing the steps to be taken for a marriage ceremony. The text originates from the Bengal region of eastern India, and as it dates to the 19th century, would serve as an important record of the rites observed at the time.
