Poster for the Stage Club "Twelfth Night"

This poster is of the Stage Club’s 1964 production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”. The guest of honour for this production of Twelfth Night was then head of state Yusof bin Ishak. Based on the production’s location at the Victoria Theatre, it is clear that the audience for Stage Club productions at the time were likely colonial and elite. The Stage Club was formed immediately after the war and focused on Western oriented productions for the entertainment of the English-educated audiences in Singapore who were largely expatriate.
