Ornamental mat, perhaps for a pillow

This panel is composed symmetrically. Contained in the central medallion are a lotus flower and two butterflies. It is a fine example of early Nyonya needlework where motifs are symmetrically arranged around a central bouquet of flowers. Its size suggests it may have been a pillow decoration for the bridal bed.
