Brown Checked Baju Panjang

The baju panjang is printed with yellow and dark purple checks against a dark brown background, with a floral bouquet motif within each square. It is lined with panels of linen on the inside. Block-printed batik cotton like this was popular in the Straits Settlements in the late 19th-early 20th century. It is part of a donation which contains a mixture of garments worn by Peranakan men and women.
