This is a traditional oil lamp (nila vizhakku) from the Malabar region of Kerala. Probably used by a temple for daily rituals, this large lamp displays a beautiful “ribbed” pattern that is typical to metal lamps from this region. The lamp displays a high degree of craftsmanship which is rare for this time.
