This rectangular embroidered hanging panel is decorated with images of the Eight Immortals along within the lower section of the panel. The Eight Immortals are important deity figures in the vast pantheon of Daoist deities that Peranakan Chinese worshipped. Embroidered panels like this would have hung above the deity altar at the front hall of a Peranakan home on special occasions such as Chinese New Year.This is an important and diverse collection of Peranakan Chinese beadwork and embroidery from Indonesia.
