This Raleigh Chopper signboard shows an image of the popular bicycle model in Singapore from the 1970s to the mid 1980s. It was a much sought after bicycle, although priced at about SGD300 per bicycle in those days, not everyone could afford a Chopper. It was not the fastest bicycle around, but the Chopper provided a comfortable ride, and people were attracted to its design - which resembled a motor cycle - as well as the gear shift that was located right in front of the seat.
